Korean Aquaculture Technology Reaching Out to the Globe

• Strategic Aquaculture Industry Department, NFRDI extends a training course on mariculture techniques to Senegal researchers who are invited under the Korea-Senegal International Cooperation Program.

• NFRDI has been carrying out the training program since 2008 to spread Korea\'s world leading aquaculture techniques to the global market. The long or short term training course has taught a variety of trainees from African countries like Algeria, Tunisia and Senegal, covering various areas such as fish, crustacean and shellfish.

• Funded by Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA), the program has been so far conducted for 4 times to train a total of 5 Algerians, 8 Tunisians and 6 Senegalese.

• For this time of training course, trainees from Agence Nationale De LAquaculture of Senegal will stay at a NFRDI lab for about 90 days from April 1 to June 26 to learn about the mariculture techniques.

• The Strategic Aquaculture Industry Department will continue to support the international cooperation by committing to the successful transfer of up-to-date aquaculture techniques & knowhow to underdeveloped countries. This activity is also believed to contribute to building Korea\'s aquaculture infrastructure in foreign markets.
