Disease Calender for Rockfish

Southeast Sea Fisheries Research Institute, NFRDI printed and distributed leaflets of “Disease Calender for Rockfish Aquaculture”. The leaflet is aimed to help fish farmers to be more knowledgable of and better prepared for the disease outbreaks at rockfish aquaculture farms.

Rockfish is one of the main aquaculture species in Korea, accounting for 30% of the total aquaculture production. The species is also regarded as very profitable with its fast growth and strength at lower water temperature.

The disease calender was drown up based on results of three year survey(2006-2008) on the rockfish disease outbreaks observed at cage farms located in Korea\'s South Sea area.

The calender contains pictures and information indicating symptoms, monthly infection rates, medications, ect. which help fish farmers to clearly understand how to respond to the disease.

It is expected that the rockfish disease leaflet will contribute to improving safe and stable supply of seafood and better management of aquaculture system as a whole.
