It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the National Institute of Fisheries Science. The National Institute of Fisheries Science is the only national marine fisheries research institute in Korea with over 100 years of history and expertise in marine fisheries science.

NIFS has contributed to the development of the national economy through field-oriented fisheries technology development, including research on fisheries resources, marine environment, aquaculture, aquatic diseases, food hygiene & processing, fisheries engineering, and fisheries biotechnology.

As conditions surrounding the fisheries industry have become more difficult due to the climate crisis these days, NIFS is actively conducting research to develop preemptive measures, including sustainable fisheries resource management technology, smart aquaculture technology, advanced food safety management, and provision of public safety information, responding to the complex crisis. 

This website is a place to introduce NIFS’s major research contents and listen to the public opinion. I hope you can get useful information from here and give us your valuable opinion.
