Southeast Sea Fisheries Research Institute

National Institute of Fisheries Science
The head of the Southeast Sea Fisheries Research Institute at the NIFS

Hello.

I am Hyeon-jeong Lim, director of the Southeast Sea Fisheries Research Institute.

Welcome to the Southeast Sea Fisheries Research Institute homepage.

Recently, the fishery industry has been attracting attention as a new job industry as the number of returning fish and returning villages has increased. Fishery resources are food resources, a treasure trove of the bio industry, and an asset for future industry creation. As a result, public awareness of the marine environment and the value of living things is continuously increasing.

Geographically, the eastern part of the South Sea, from Jinhae Bay to Gangjin Bay, is a major spawning ground for warm current fish species, and is an important aquaculture production complex with the largest designated sea area for shellfish production in Korea.

At the National Institute of Fisheries Science, Southeast Sea Fisheries Research Institute, we are concentrating our capabilities on developing practical technologies to solve problems at the aquaculture site, and are striving for research and development to produce and supply hygienic and safe marine products and technologies to cope with climate change for sustainable aquaculture.

All employees of the Southeast Sea Fisheries Research Institute will strive to communicate with fishermen, stand with the people, and help young people find hope in the sea. We ask for your continued interest and support.

Thank you.
