The National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) announced that it has succeeded in producing high-quality fetilized eggs and larvae of white pomfret (Pampus argenteus) by natural spawning of the white pomfret broodstocks as its researchers raise them with water temperature control and high-quality feed in indoor hatchery tank. White pomfret is a high value-added species caught from West Sea and South Sea of South Korea, however, the catch of the species is currently decreasing, resulting in price rise. In addition, the species grows fast even at high water temperatures, therefore the need of pomfret-farming technology is very high. |
