The National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) has released young North Pacific giant octopus to the East sea with the Longline Fishery Federation in Donghae City, Kangwon Province, for the stock recovery. North Pacific gainat octopus is one of the local specialities in the East Sea. The East Sea Fisheries Research Institute has released the broodstock of North Pacific giant octopus to the ocean since 2016 for investigate the mobility of the octopus broodstock (mother octopus on the verge of spawning, over 8kg) with attaching yellow tags. However, it is the first time to release young octopus. The Director Genera of the East Sea Fisheries Research Institute asked people to actively report when they find the North Pacific giant octopus with yellow tag. |
