On Thursday, June 15, 2023, the National Institute of Fisheries Science(NIFS) held an on-site presentation for sustainable productivity of fishing ground in the northwestern seas of Jinhae Bay at the town office of Donghae-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do.

At the meeting with about 50 stakeholders from MOF, local governments, relevant groups in fisheries as well as fishers, NIFS shared the outcomes of its research on the growth of aquaculture species, habitat environment, feeding amount, and primary productivity, which had been conducted by NIFS as the policy tasks of MOF over the past year.

They also had discussions to propose the practical development direction for aquaculture, including the assessment of carrying capacity in fishing grounds and the operation of an entity consisting of the public, private, industry, academia, and research, to deal with the marine environment pollution and decreased yields in the sea areas.
