NIFS urged the people to meticulously manage aquaculture organisms to prevent damages by the high water temperature, which is forcast to occur in the early- and middle- of July when the rainy season in Korea lulls.

For municipalities and aquaculturists, NIFS sets up on-site control units starting from May of every year, reinforcing its field-guidance on tips to prevent aquaculture organisms from the damage caused by high water temperature.

In summer, dissolved oxygen amount decreases because of high water temperature, and biological activity is likely to weaken due to the unstable rearing environment resulting from heavy rain and typhoon.

The president of NIFS said "Even though last year saw a prolonged high water temperature compared to the previous year, we could minimize the damages by thoroughly preparing for that. Therefore, I urge the people to pay attention to NIFS's real-time service for water temperature and high water temperature warning. The aquaculture industry is also required to follow the tips for fish farm management."
