According to NIFS, after conducting an inspection on the shellfish sanitation laboratory from July 25 to August 2, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave NIFS the degree of conformity. Accordingly, NIFS is able to further strengthen a foundation for processed shellfish products like domestically produced oyster to be consistently exported to the United States. 

In line with the 「Korea－USA Bivalve Sanitary Agreement (1972)」 and 「Korea－US Shellfish Sanitation MOU」, FDA conducts the inspection regularly. 

Director General Kim, Ji-hoe of the Ocean Climate and Environment Research Department said that NIFS is able to further strengthen the foundation for domestic shellfish exports to the United States with the result, following the previous on-site inspection in April, which is expected to contribute to expanding export markets to the world.
