NIFS said it streamlined the approval procedure for distribution of fisheries bio-resources＊, which are the source of R&D on biomaterials like new drugs. 

More than anything else, NIFS cut the days taking for distribution approval in half from 30 days. It also unified two parts for acceptance and examination of the filed application to one, the examination part, and simplified the application form.

The National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS), as the national research institute in charge of securing various fisheries bio-resources and the effective management and utilization, is in overall control of the conservation, deposit, and distribution of fisheries bio-resources.

＊Fisheries bio-resources are all living things in seas, rivers, etc., and their biological information. As they have many potential resources for R&D, compared to terrestrial bio-resources, the demand for its industrial use is expected to increase continuously.
