NIFS announced that it had the duty council with seven municipal research institutes at NIFS's Tidal Flat Research Center in Gunsan on September 20th for mutual cooperation on the utilization and management of tidal flats. In the meeting, 20 people from seven municipal fishery research institutes and Tidal Flat Research Center of NIFS had a time to discuss and exchange the outcomes of tidal flat research. Korea's tidal flats play a critical role for fishery products, including littleneck clam and surf clam, and are put on the UNESCO World Heritage list due to their outstanding natural properties. In the meantime, while each fishery research institute is conducting research on the utilization and management of tidal flats, there has been a high demand for exchanging research outcomes. The discussion was proceeded in the following order ▲ Exchange of information on tidal flats research and the pending issue and ▲ Measures of inter-institutional research cooperation for addressing the issue. |
