NIFS announced that it signed the Implementation Arrangement (IA) with Indonesia on official development assistance (ODA) project entitled "Smart Technological Support to Improve Aquaculture Productivity in Indonesia." The total amount of the budget provided by Korea for five years ('23-'27) is 7 billion won (KRW). 

The Arrangement specifies the role of each party, cooperation measures, forms and areas of the project, etc. The president WOO, Dong-sik of the National Institute of Fisheries Science of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea and the Deputy Coordination Minister Mochammad Firman Hidayat of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia signed in Busan on October 31, 2023. 

The ODA project focuses on the modernization of production and processing facilities to enhance the productivity and quality of seaweed cultured of Eucheuma sp. in Kei Island, aims at providing technical support for Napoleon fish aquaculture in Batam and Natuna, and involves the provision of capacity building program for the marine aquaculture sector.
