NIFS announced that it held the 'international seminar on exchanges and cooperation in fisheries science 2023' with the National Directorate of Aquatic Resources (DINARA) of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. NIFS and DINARA signed the MOU on bilateral cooperation in the field of fisheries for the sustainable fishery, fishery resources management, and improvement of aquaculture technique in Montevideo, Uruguay in October of last year. 

As a follow-up measure of the MOU, the seminar was held to expedite the project and seek ways for practical cooperation in fisheries science including joint research between the two countries. There were also presentations on the 'research on fluctuation of squid resources in the Southwest Atlantic Ocean' and the 'research on marine mammal resources information and by-catch reduction.'
