NIFS announced that the west coast of Korea is used as the ground for spawning and nursing of warm water fish in spring and summer. 

To survey on the distribution of egg, larva and juvenile of fish living the west coast, the West Sea Fisheries Research Institute of NIFS conducted the first research on technology to discriminate species sampled from 40 stations in the mid-western coastal area of Korea. 

The research monitored total 56 fish species, including olive flounder and sole fish, which are the sedentary fish in the West Sea. It also found eggs and juvenile of representative warm water fish such as anchovy, Japanese Spanish mackerel, Pacific cutlassfish, mackerel, Japanese scad, etc.
