As of Tuesday, Feb. 27 2024, 1:00 PM, NIFS announced that it fully lifted the low water temperature caution notice issued for the middle and southern West Sea areas. Currently, the water temperature of sea areas subject to the lift is between 5.2~6.8℃. This year(‘23/‘24) showing higher water temperature than average year, the caution notice was issued four days later and lifted eight days earlier year-on-year, during 17-day shortened total period. NIFS president Choi said, "For the time being, drastic water temperature drops would not occur. Even though the caution notice was lifted, temporary water temperature drops could damge fish farms depending on the sea areas. Therefore, I ask fishermen to keep maintaining the aquaculture organisms in accordance with the management tips and monitoring the real-time water temperature information provided by NIFS.
