South Sea Fisheries Research Institute of NIFS: MOU signing with Oyster Suhyup(Yeosu) for safe oyster production

The South Sea Fisheries Research Institute announced that it signed a MOU on safe oyster production in Jeonnam sea areas with Yeosu department of Oyster Suhyup on Friday, March 8 2024. 

Yeosu, centering the Gamangman Gulf, is now earning income of KRW 35 billion by selling 38,000 tons oyster produced from 300 oyster farms (857.7ha, 92 licenses) for hoe (sashimi) and grilled ones. 

The MOU contains the following: Cooperation in the sanitary evaluation on oyster production sites in Jeonnam, information exchange for operating the Korean Shellfish Sanitation Program (KSSP), cooperation in the analysis of marine environmental information for oyster mortality reduction, etc.
