On September 6 (Fri.), the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) and the Incheon National Maritime Museum (INMM) signed MOU for the expansion of cultural and heritage aspects of oceans and fisheries and for the development of fisheries science. Through the MOU, NIFS - the only research institute in the sector of oceans and fisheries in Korea - is going to work together with INMM to identify historical value of the cultural contents of oceans and fisheries and to project the future, based on the tangible or intangible resources including expertise that the two bodies have. The MOU includes the following: △exchanging information and identifying collaborative projects for artifacts, research, exhibition at home and abroad, etc.; △utilizing the resources of both bodies and expanding people-to-people interactions; △jointly hosting scientific programme, seminar, etc.; △mutual utilization of facility and equipment that both bodies have. The President of NIFS said, "The MOU has a significant meaning in that it lays the ground for cooperation in expanding the opportunity to introduce the cultural and heritage aspects of oceans and fisheries while looking back on the footsteps in fisheries science research in Korea. I expect this MOU to raise public attention by combining science and culture." |
